Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnosis is based on eight principles, those being, Yin and Yang, Hot and Cold, Internal and External and Excess and Deficiency. To help evaluate which combination of points are needed the therapist will ask questions, take pulses and look at the tongue.
There are twelve main Acupuncture channels, with many acupuncture points on each channel. Fine sterile needles are inserted into pre-selected points , depending on the diagnosis. These points will affect the flow of energy called Qi. Sometimes the needles are stimulated by twisting and thrusting the needles causing a deep dull ache called Da Qi . The needles can be left for 15-20 minutes and removed using a cotton ball to press down on the skin. TCM Acupuncture also uses other methods of treatment including: Cupping, Slide cupping, Moxibustion, Electro acupuncture, Ear acupuncture and Tui Na massage.
